Hi guys! Welcome back! So, in today’s blog I will be starting to edit my film project! I have also made a couple changes in my audio and sound elements after filming my project that I will share with you guys in this blog!
Starting off with audio elements, I have decided to add some suspense music towards the ending of the opening, where the climax of the film rises. This is the music that will be played.
Now for sound elements, I will include a few stings and foley sounds. For the foley sounds I will be creating the sounds Caitlyn makes while packing her bookbag. For example, I will be making a foley sound of her ziping her bag, clothes being stuffed in the bag, and her putting her shoes on.
Starting now with editing, I have taken a few pictures, showing the way how I pieced the clips together.
Hi!!! Welcome back! I have great news... I finished filming my project this weekend! I'm so happy! In this blog, I will share with you guys how I created my set design. I sadly don't have many visuals, but I will provide very specific details on how I created it.
To begin with, our set was taken place in my living room and two bedrooms in my house. In the living room, I had my mother help me mess up the couch, floor, plants, and tables to make the set look extremely messy. We threw the pillows all over the place, we poured baskets of clean laundry all around and on top the couch, and we also placed emptied chip bags all over the room, to show the unstable condition the room is in. Other props we added in our film were alcohol bottles on the floor and couch and we also placed dirty plastic cups on the tables and couch. It was VERY messy! This was the end result!! :)
The second set took place in my parent's room. In their room, I messed up their bed and floor. I began to throw their blankets and clothes all over the place to give it a messy look. I also threw clean laundry all over the room, pillows and shoes showing how irresponsible Caitlyn's parents are for not caring to clean after themselves. This was the result!
The last set took place in my room. In my room, I tried to give it a cleaner look compared to the rest of the rooms to show that Caitlyn is not like her parents, dirty and careless. This was the set look.
Hi guys! Welcome back to my blog!! Today in class we were paired in groups like last time except it was with different people. In this group meeting we shared our blogs with each other, talked about our film opening, and our difficulties. To be honest, I was a little bit nervous about the feedback I would receive about my film but I actually got helpful information!
The first person in my group that shared was Sebastian. Sebastian shared with us that his film is a thriller about a group of friends at a parking lot who encounter a bag on the floor that ends up hypnotizes them after opening it. After telling us the plot of the movie, he talked about his obstacles. He told us that two of his actors were late and not present for the shooting of the film, which slowed his production time.
The second person in my group that shared was Morat. He shared that his film is a thriller. It is about two protagonists trying to catch one antagonist from stealing artifacts, however, in order for them to catch him they need to solve clues and riddles. While he was explaining some obstacles he faces, he explained how he was having trouble recording in a tight hallway, so I suggested to record with a selfie stick, since that was what helped me record also in tight spaces.
The next person that shared was Sonakshi. She shared to us that her film genre is a drama. Her film is about a girl who was anxiety over not having time to complete her work on time as she is a big procrastinator.
To start off, Caitlyn’s costume creation was actually extremely simple. So Caitlyn’s costume is actually a pair of jeans, hoodie, and boots which I already had from years ago. I just pulled it straight out of my closet! Crazy right?
For those who may not remember, this is the costume for Caitlyn.
The second costume, which is for Caitlyn’s dad was simple as well, however, we designed it a little bit differently. My dad, who is playing Caitlyn’s dad, actually had all the pieces of the costumes in his closet already, but to make a stained shirt we poured some coffee to give a dirty look to it. This is how I stained it.
So to start off, my production logo name is KB Productions. Fun fact , I thought of adding KB because those letters are the initials of my first and last name! I proffered the idea of putting the initials of my production logo instead a fake name so viewers would know who produced the film.

I have been patiently waiting for the right moment to have enough time to record for my film project. My original date to record was going to be 2 weeks ago ,however, I encountered multiple obstacles along the way :(
My first obstacle was about my actors. Caitlyn’s parents, who are played by my parents, had two sudden trips out of the state and country for work. This affected my schedule deeply, delaying my project filming by 3 weeks!
My second obstacle is similar to the first one, however, it was a personal struggle. I needed to find a time and date to start filming ONLY throughout a weekend. The reason why I am not able to record throughout the weekdays is because of my sports practice. I play two sports which are soccer and track, so my practices are twice a day, all week long except the weekend.
Hello everyone! Welcome back! In today's blog post, I will analyze and research about the titles in a film that strongly inspired my idea for a title for my film opening.
So, to start off, the film is called "Gone Girl". The 2014 thriller is about the disappearance of a woman, who the main suspect is actually her husband. The opening credits of the film, however, is very intriguing and very well depicted to the plot of the film. The illustration of the font and title, shots of the location, and color scheme has inspired me to create my film opening similarly like that. However, instead of filming the location in my film opening, I will film the object that takes place in that specific location, which will be in Caitlyn's room.
Hello and welcome back! Today I will be talking about what audio elements I will include in my film opening.
So in the film opening, there will be no audio elements throughout the scenes except for one scene.
In the scene where Caitlyn is beginning to pack her things and rush to leave the house, sinister and mysterious music will be playing in the background. This will create a dramatic effect, demonstrating that something will soon happen, which is her abusive dad waking up with an angry look after breaking the glass bottle, waking him up.
Through the rest of the scenes, there will be no music elements playing. This will create a sense of realism and depth throughout the film.
The first film location is in Caitlyn’s bedroom. In the bedroom, Caitlyn will receive the voicemail and pack her things to runaway as well.
The second film opening will take place in her parent’s bedroom. Here Caitlyn will leave her note for her mom stating that she is running away and never coming back.
The last film location will be in the living room of the house. Here in the living room, Caitlyn will try to attempt to leave the house until her abusive dad wakes up and catches her.

Now that I have demonstrated the costume ideas, I am going to illustrate and discuss what props i will use for my film.
The first prop I will use will be alcohol bottles. The bottles will be shown all throughout the house to illustrate what kind of family this is. Throughout the film opening, bottles will be shown in every room of the house, on tables and on the floor. This is a very important prop, as it is how the climax of the film opening occurred. The last prop that will be used will be a phone. The phone will be shown for a little but will have a strong significance to the film opening. So, the main character of my film opening is a girl named Caityln. Caitlyn is 16 years old, who is depressed and a very isolated person. Caitlyn has grown up her whole life with both her mom and dad; however, they were never present nor a good parental guardian. Sadly, Caitlyn's mother has a partying addiction and drinking problem, leading her mom to never being present. Although Caityln's mom is very present, Caitlyn's father is always home but is abusive and an alcoholic.
Now that I have introduced the characters, I will also discuss about some ideas I have on how I will create these characters. To start off, Caitlyn is a very isolated and depressed teenager who tends to herself, so I have begun to brainstorm some costume ideas for her. Caitlyn will wear either a grey zip-up hoodie with jeans and boots or a black hoodie with tight jeans and converse. In addition to her appearance, Caitlyn will have light makeup with smudged mascara and eyeliner, showing that she was crying.
Since I have created a few presentation ideas for the main character, I will now discuss about a few presentation ideas I have for Caitlyn's father, since Caitlyn's mother won't be present in the film only her voice will. To start off, my film opening is about a girl who plans to run away from her abusive and toxic home. Her parents are never present or are either drinking and partying, leaving her to tend to herself. The genre of my film is a drama with an addition to suspense.
My film centers around the girl’s actions and feelings towards her relationship with her family, relating to a girl named Cassie from the show called Skins. In the show Skins, a girl named Cassie suffers multiple mental health illnesses growing up after being neglected from her parents multiple times. Throughout the show she tends to help herself get better until she finally runs away from all the problems she had been truly affected by by, such as her parents and friends.
This inspiration from the show strongly guided me to brainstorm plot and character ideas for my film opening, creating a sense of drama and sadness, relating to the character, Cassie, from the show.

Helloo and welcome back!!! In today's blog I will discuss what media theory I will include and how I will use it in my film opening. To start off I will discuss my plot for the film opening again for those who may not know.
The plot of my film opening is about a young girl who receives a voicemail from her mother, who loves to party like crazy, telling her that she might come home tomorrow or some other day, while being intoxicated. While the girl is listening to the voicemail on the phone, she begins to cry and pack up her things, indicating she will run away. As she begins to head out, she approaches her mother's room, which seems to be a huge mess, leaving her a note stating that she will no longer see her anymore. After she leaves her mother's room, she begins to pace very fast towards the living room, where she sees a man laying down on the couch sleeping and drunk. As she going to approach the door, she knocks over a glass alcohol bottle, breaking it, waking up the man, who appears to be very angry.
So going back to the media theory, the media theory I will incorporate will be the binary opposition theory. Using this theory will help explain the plot. For example, the main character, the young girl, is in her clean and tidy room, sad over the fact that her mom doesn't care for her, while her mom is messy, unloving, and also an alcoholic, bottles all over the floor and in her room.
Hello and welcome back! Today in class we were combined into groups of 7 to all collectively elaborate and share our ideas about our projects so far. We had to review each other's blogs and film opening ideas by sharing our opinions and tips on how to make it better.
To start off, I elaborated on my idea of a film opening. My film opening will be about a girl lying in bed on her phone listening to her mom's voicemail telling her that she will probably be home tomorrow morning from the party. The girl is frustrated about her living situation so she plans on run away, however, as she starts to head to the living room, she knocks down a glass bottle that was on the floor and wakes up a man, who may be her abusive dad or random man, and begins to get angry. While discussing the plot of the opening, my group members added on giving tips on how to improve the film opening a little better. They suggested that the girl should run down the stairs in a hurry to leave the home before knocking over the bottle, use mid lighting instead of low lighting , and to slow down the pace of action going on in the film.
After my discussion of what my film opening is going to be about, one of my group members, Ella, talked about her film opening. She explained that her film opening is about a teen girl who is neglected from her family and how she feels on the day of her birthday. While talking about the plot, we collectively as a group suggested some points. We suggested that she should end the film opening mid scene at the party to not make the opening seek too much as an official ending. We also suggested for her to include dull colors in the scene where she is neglected and then include bright colorful colors once the party starts to show the girl’s emotion going from miserable to excited and happy.
Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! In this blog I will be conducting research on two major films in the drama genre. The two films I will research are Schindler’s List and A Few Good Men.
Schindler’s List (1993) is a drama film produced by Spielberg, created to depict the story of Oskar Schindler, who was a greedy German businessman in Nazi- occupied Poland that actually helped Jews from going to concentration camps by employing them to work at his factory. The plot of this film really highlights the truth and realism of the holocaust.
While the film had such deep meaning, it had won many awards. The film won best picture, best director, best original score, best film editing, and best cinematography.
The film “A Few Good Men”(1992) is a drama about a lieutenant , who is a lazy lawyer, who defends two young American soldiers who are being charged for murder after killing a soldier out of no good deed. The film had inspiration after the code red in Guantánamo Bay in 1986 where a U.S Marine assaulted a fellow marine due to his lack of compliance to orders.
Although the movie is rated a 7/10 it did not win many awards, it won MTV Movie &TV Award For The Best Movie and People’s Choice Awards For Favorite Movie.
